The Saratoga Six: Sydney Peyser

Six inquisitive questions with Saratoga’s most interesting people.

By Alyssa McClenning

There’s a quiet wave of young entrepreneurs coming onto the scene in Saratoga Springs. They have big ideas, they work hard and they are starting to get noticed. Sydney Peyser, founder of Clarity Juice, is one such visionary. Her growth trajectory is looking bright, with the upcoming release of her fourth juice, “Shine”. We recently took a walk with Sydney in Congress Park.

 1. Tell us about your earliest Saratoga memory.

I grew up in New Jersey, but my mom is originally from the area. Her family owned farmland in Greenfield and we would spend the holidays with them. It was always so beautiful to see the rolling hills covered in snow. One of my earliest memories from those treks is trudging out to the field to feed the cows with my grandparents.

2. The Saratoga Social was created to highlight the work of our local nonprofits. Which organization is most important to you?

ASPCA is very important to me. My pup, Hank, is a rescue Lab-Hound mix. He’s changed my life in ways that I never thought possible.

I’ve become more aware of animal neglect that’s happening right here in our own backyard. With the help of the ASPCA, I know we can find happy and caring homes for many of these animals that have been forgotten and neglected. We each need to have the courage to bring this issue to light whenever we see it.

 3. Which spot in town serves your favorite drink or dish?

I’m always in the mood for Henry Street Taproom. Whether you want to get an appetizer and glass of wine, or you’re on a cheat day from your diet and feel like getting a beer and cheese plate (Heck, yes, I’m a believer in taking a cheat day!), they always have something new on the menu that hits the spot. My favorite item on their menu right now is the Spaghetti Squash with Quinoa Meatballs – so good!

4. You own a very health-focused brand. Now that we’re headed into the colder months, what activities do you incorporate into your routine to stay of sound body and mind?

It’s hard to get outside and keep moving once the temperature drops, but I think it’s important to supplement your routine with seasonal activities. I really love snowshoeing with my friends and my dog, Hank. Our farmhouse is surrounded by woods, so it’s easy for us to head out for a hike in freshly fallen snow. Saratoga Spa State Park is great public space to snowshoe. Time flies when you’re out and about in nature.

My second go-to activity in the winter is yoga. It’s a great stress-reliever and you feel yourself becoming stronger every time you practice. Not to mention, it’s such a warm and relaxing environment when you’re in a studio.

5. What’s the first app/website you open in the morning?

I’m a big believer in not opening email until 9:00AM. After a healthy breakfast, my first digital interaction is scrolling through Instagram for #myclaritymoment posts. I love seeing how other people interpret our brand and the world around them. A lot of them are inspiring… and some of them are downright hilarious.

6. “I consider Saratoga’s greatest hidden gem to be…”

Certified Organic Echo Creek Farm at Spa City Farmer’s Market.
