Documentary filmmaker Albert Maysles died last week at the age of 88, and perhaps his most enduring work was the 1976 film Grey Gardens. The film depicts the everyday lives of two reclusive socialites, a mother and daughter both named Edith Beale, who lived at Grey Gardens, a derelict mansion at 3 West End Road in the wealthy Georgica Pond neighborhood of East Hampton, New York.
This is a film that will stay with you, and one that you need to watch more than once. If you haven't seen it yet, GO now, add it to your must watch list (find it on iTunes for Apple TV or watch it online here). HBO also did a gorgeous film based on the documentary with Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange that we highly recommend you check out.
