If you've noticed a recent influx of ethereally graceful, long necked creatures in our fair city, you can chalk it up to the arrival of the world famous NYC Ballet once again making their summer home at SPAC in Saratoga Springs.
Tuesday, July 7th marks the opening night for the 2015 season, with an all Balanchine repertoire, and other features for this summer include the Saratoga Springs premiere of Peter Martin’s La Sylphide on July 15, ballets by Jerome Robbins and Danish choreographer August Bournonville; and contemporary works by Christopher Wheeldon, Alexei Ratmansky and Justin Peck.
And of course, the annual SPAC Ballet Gala, one of the summer highlights, will be held on July 11th. The gala includes a captivating performance by the New York City Ballet, followed by fireworks and a festive post-performance lawn party, and is spearheaded by the Action Council.
The Junior Committee hosts a festive bring your own picnic lawn party where guests, decked out in the gala's annual theme, compete in an annual competition for best lawn party picnic. Guests also have the option to purchase tickets to the Gala held inside the Hall of Springs, which begins with a champagne reception followed by an elegant sit-down dinner, amphitheater seating and a festive afterglow party in the Hall of Springs following the performance.
This year, make sure to stop by the Saratoga Social tent to say hello. We'll be serving up specialty theme cocktails from Saratoga Wine and Spirits and snapping pics of the party goers on the lawn.
