Saturday, March 12, 2016 kicked off the Children’s Museum Gala at Saratoga National, celebrating over 25 years that the Children’s Museum has served to create an interactive environment for children that inspires curiosity, sparks imagination and nurtures discovery for children. The theme of the party was a children’s favorite, Peter Rabbit. As you walked in, one was made to feel as though you were in Mr. McGregor’s garden.
Keeping in the theme of the night’s event, guests were able to take their picture at the The Smile Lounge Photo Booth with an array of bunny ears, garden tools, and flowers, and Megan Mumford was there as well taking photos of those in attendance. Nick Smith was the Master of Ceremony with Executive Director Michele Smith saying a few words about the Museum and its importance to the community. Carlyn Huston was the Special guest speaker who spoke on behalf of the Museum’s important Making Connections Autism Program.
Spotted in the crowd of 170 were founders, Alice & Randy Martin and Mary Lou and Don Hall, as well as Josh and Katie Nemer, Libby Coreno, Dr. and Mrs. Marty Breen, Christine Harmon, Adam Powers, Bill and Amy Johnson, City of Saratoga Springs Assistant Deputy of Accounts, Maire Masterson and a strong showing of Saratoga Leadership Class 2014. Following a wonderful sit-down dinner was the live auction which included a Day at the Track, a room makeover by Beverly Tracy that was won by Beth Harker, and a bidding war took place for a private dinner party for eight by Executive Chef Mark McDonough with a beautiful table setting of Anfora china that sold for $1,800 to Commissioner of Finance Michele Madigan.
The silent auction featured items from local downtown businesses, Druthers, Saratoga Olive Oil, Saratoga Cycle Studio, Ravenous, Northshire Bookstore, and many more. The Board of Directors of the Children’s Museum was well represented by Elisa Haworth, David Martin, Jennifer Allen, Brandon Ture, Stefanie Wood, Dan Carberry, Alex Dunshee, Mary Kate Metwally, Jay Portnoy,Erin Santspree and Stephanie Schroeder-Loveland.
The party really got hopping with live music by Dancing Dream, ABBA tribute band from New York City who played ABBA classics Take a Chance on Me, Super Trooper, Mama Mia and Dancing Queen. The night was a great success thanks to corporate sponsors Andrew Davis-Brookfield Renewable Energy, SaratogaMama, SaratogaTODAY, Stewart’s Shops, Fort Miller and Julie & Co. with Bonacio Construction.
