Our Saratoga Social contributor Lindsey was out and about on Thursday night, enjoying some Music and Mingling to benefit the Senior Center. Check out her recap below!
It’s begun! The kickoff event of Saratoga Spring’s summer event circuit, the 6th annual Music and Mingle benefit fundraiser for the Adult and Senior Center, took place this past Thursday and let us say it set the bar high. The Saratoga Polo grounds hosted the over 400 guests in attendance this year. Honorary chairs, Patty and Vince Riggi along with event chairs Mary Lentini and Sequayah Finkell teamed up with Senior Center Director Lois Celeste to make this year’s party better than ever. Marty Keary and Jim Petit, Kyle “Moe” Kommer, Mike Bucci, Sabine Rodgers and Natalie Sillery were also instrumental to the fundraiser from the get go.
Grand Central Station’s music drew guests on to the dance floor, although it was tough to walk away from the tasty spread by Old Daley Catering. Mini fried rice and lo mien cartons along with roasted veggies and caprese skewers early on made way for decadent chocolate covered strawberries and Ben and Jerry’s chocolate ice cream later in the evening. While dancing to Beyoncé or snacking on a shrimp cocktail you may have spotted Greg and Shelly Burns of Consigli Construction, Michele and Ron Riggi, Anthony Maney and Fran Apy or Tom Brockley and Daryn Bedanotti.
A photo booth featuring hats perfect for the upcoming racing season by Saratoga trunk captured memories of the evening while guests waited to hear if they won their silent auction bids. Hot ticket auction items including a night’s stay at the Inn at Erlowest or Union Gables Inn, two tickets to Saratoga Uncorked, section two tickets to Dave Matthews and so much more raised over $13,000.
For a change of scenery guests could step out behind the tent for a cigar tasting provided by James and Sons tobacconists beside the roaring fire pits and spot some other guests; John and Aspen Witt along with Drew West, Tim and Lisa Higgins, Tommy and Rachel Uccellini, Zach Manz and Devin Sherin. With a strong political presence including Congressman Paul Tonko, Saratoga’s Mayor Joanne Yepsen, Finance Commissioner Michele Madigan and Commissioner of Public Works Skip Scirocco, this event was also a great networking opportunity.
Major sponsors, TD Bank and Turbine Services Ltd. made the night a possibility, exceeding all expectations. As the band wound down on at the Polo Grounds guests moved the party downtown to 15 Church’s notable patio who generously donated 15% of the proceeds from the evening towards the fundraiser. Those in attendance gave rave reviews of this year’s event, which like a fine wine only gets better over time, highlighting the fun atmosphere, great music and energetic crowd.
