Contributor Lindsey stopped by Prime last week for The Feast of the Fields, check out her party photos & recap below!
From their fields to our tables at last Thursdays's 11th annual Feast of the Fields dinner. The event was put on by Saratoga PLAN, a non-profit group dedicated to preserving the natural beauty of Saratoga County and was held at Saratoga National Golf Club. The venue, with its stunning views and lush 135 acres protected by conservation easement held by the organization was an obvious choice.
Throughout the evening chefs from local restaurants including Salt and Char, Merry Monk and Parkside Eatery served up sumptuous small plates of their take on this year's theme, berries, using locally produced goods. Lines immediately formed to try fresh pizza wood fired on site by Chef Gordon Sacks of 9 Miles East Farm and the pan seared duck breast raspberry qastrique by Chef Thomas Gulbrandsen of the Saratoga Marriott Courtyard. Chef Vivian Brammer of Prime served up a merger masterpiece with her carrot cheesecake as well as a mixed berry Italian crumble. Tasting stations were also set up around the patio featuring Common Roots Brewing Company, Yankee Distillers, Rock Hill Bakehouse and more.
The silent auction items were exciting enough to pull guests away from snacking to browse. Gift baskets from the Cantina, Saratoga Cracker & Saratoga Tea and Honey, a day of sailing on Lake Champlain and a box at the Saratoga Racetrack courtesy of Tom Roohan were some of the many great items up for grabs.
Specials guests of the evening included Larry & Sally King, Duane & Tracy Palmateer, Peter & Morgan Brooks, Taylor Chandler, Elizabeth LaSalle, Jim & Cindy Amell, Tom Newkirk, Barbara Glaser, Paul Zachos, John, Cindy, Mike, Lisa, John and Rosemary Munter, Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner and Supervisor Peter Martin.
PLAN board members responsible for the evening could be spotted around the fires or listening to Hot Club of Saratoga; Phyllis Aldrich, Jay Arnold, Richard Higgins, Jenn Hunt Dempsey, Jane Masatitis, Karl Newton, Will Orthwein, Kim Sevinsky and Jaclyn Hakes. These members along with generous donations from featured local farmsand corporate sponsors collaborated for a truly unique experience of fresh flavors and we're looking forward to next year's theme!
