A record crowd flooded in to Saratoga National on Friday, Sept. 9, to support The Incredible Teddy Foundation’s 6th Annual Fundraiser. Family and friends arrived and filled the terrace, delighted to support Phil and Andi Lodico and Teddy, while raising awareness of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia. Guests arrived and sipped drinks, while being treated to music from Grammy nominated jazz guitarist and Bennington music professor Hui Cox, who sat in with Renehan and Mastrianni. It was great to see the duo back together for this special occasion, with Kristen Renehan coming back into town to reunite with Jim Mastrianni for the fundraiser.
Attendees nibbled on seared tuna appetizers, wild mushroom ravioli, sirloin steak and spotted in the crowd were Dave and Stephanie Collins, Matt and Sheila Sperling, Lisa and Jim Sasko, Jennifer Lefner, Jared and Amy Cantanucci, Val Collins, Alysa and Jay Arnold, Carly and Dan Connors and Heath and Jeff Ames. The Lodico family founded The Incredible Teddy Foundation in 2010 after their son Teddy was born with CDH, characterized by the underdevelopment of the diaphragm in utero. Special guests for the evening included Terry Buchmiller, surgery associate at Boston Children’s Hospital and Kellan Moorehouse, a 2-year-old CDH survivor from Hudson Falls, and his parents Katie and Will.
The importance of the event and the children The Incredible Teddy Foundation is helping was underscored by the evening’s speakers, Maggie Kirber, LICSW Boston Children’s Hospital Medical-Surgical ICU; and Jay Wilson, MD, Director of Surgical Critical Care Boston Children’s Hospital. Their experiences in treating babies with CDH and supporting their families highlighted the importance of the foundation’s mission and made the announcement of the kickoff of a new major campaign all the more exciting, with President Andi Lodico telling us, “The Incredible Teddy Foundation is committed to alleviating stress for families with a critically ill child, which is why we partnered with Boston Children’s Hospital in 2014 to establish Teddy’s Home Away From Home Fund. This year, we officially kicked off an endowment campaign to raise $350,000 toward the fund, which would cover costs for all CDH families staying in Boston’s patient-family housing program.”
More than $55,000 was raised at the event, in part due to a fabulous line up of silent auction items including a day in Chad Brown’s owner’s box and a $200 gift certificate to Sperry’s won by Jen and Kyle Perry, a home improvement package from Teakwood Builders, Brookside Nursery and Andy Winslow Painting, Cantina Patio Party, Reform Pilates package all won by lucky Colleen and Tim Yates. Erica and Scott Fuller will be enjoying a mixology class at Salt & Char and last but certainly not least, Terrill Brown was thrilled to take home 4 VIP Yankee tickets for next baseball season.
