The cold Saratoga winter has officially set in, but what better way to beat the winter blues than with some of the fabulous parties coming up this month. One of the biggest and most fun events of the year is on the calendar this Saturday at Hattie's 15th Annual Mardi Gras. Held at the Canfield Casino this event always attracts hundreds of people with a near sell-out crowd, who come to enjoy all the pleasures of Mardi Gras, including incredible food from Hattie's Restaurant and dancing to the great music of Soul Session and Garland Nelson. Dan Russell with Southern Wine and Spirits will be mixing up Maker's Mark for complimentary Mint Julep's for guests as they arrive this Saturday and Heather Bohm-Tallman will have her always popular photo booth set up to capture some of the evening’s memorable moments.
The queen of silent auctions, Mary Gavin, was also kind enough to give me a sneak peek at this year's impressive auction and it is one you are not going to want to miss. Bonacio Construction has donated a $5000 painting package and Jeff and Heath Ames and Cantina Restaurant have donated a party for 12 on the porch (cold margaritas on Cantina's patio on a warm day sounds like heaven right now!). The brand new Morton's Restaurant at Saratoga Casino and Raceway has donated a gift certificate as have scores of downtown merchants, always ready to show their support for Hattie's, including Piper Boutique, Silverwood, The Savory Pantry, Saratoga Olive Oil, Lather, 15 Church, Lifestyles, Complexions Spa, Impressions and James and Sons Tobacconists. Hattie's owners Beth and Jasper Alexander have chosen the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (who celebrate their 50th Anniversary this summer!) as the recipients of the proceeds from this years event and the original New York City Ballet Midsummer's Night Dream Costumes from their first performance at SPAC will be on display at Saturday's party. Additionally, the Northeast Ballet will be ushering in guests and performing a new dance reminiscent of a Midsummer's Night Dream, in honor of SPAC's 50th Anniversary. If at this point you’re thinking this is a party you are not going to want to miss, we couldn’t agree more. Tickets are available at SPAC.org and additionally, The Saratoga Social is also giving away two tickets for you and a guest to attend Saturday’s Soiree. Just click right here and tell us what one of your favorite memories from SPAC is... The winner will be selected at the close of business Wednesday. Good luck and get your beads ready!
