The Saratoga Six: Lyndsey Lowe

Six inquisitive questions with Saratoga’s most interesting people.

By Alyssa McClenning

With spring comes the proverbial rebirth. Retail is no exception. Saratoga Springs’ well-known boutique, Lifestyles, is getting a sibling of sorts, caroline and main. We recently caught up with Lyndsey Lowe, who is helping to pull the new venture and the new vibe together. Speaking of siblings, you might be surprised to learn that Lyndsey is one of… how many?!

1. Tell us about your earliest Saratoga memory.

Gosh, my earliest Saratoga memory... I went to high school here so ‘toga and I go way back. I remember moving here from CT when I was 14 and trying out for the cheerleading squad at the high school. I met my best friend that day and we are still friends today; I'll be her maid of honor next year. Time flies!
2. The Saratoga Social was created to highlight the work of our local nonprofits. Which organization is most important to you?
I work for Lifestyles of Saratoga as the owner, Heidi West's, personal assistant and I have learned so much from her in regards to charitable giving. Together her and I refurbished a 1964 Shasta trailer and turned it into a pop-up-shop that travels to events around Saratoga and gives a portion of its proceeds to charities. Last summer was our first year and we gave back to SO many incredible organizations, but I have to say that Double H Ranch stole my heart. I have 123 siblings (kidding I have 6) five of which are under the age of 13, so naturally I have a soft spot for children which is why Double H Ranch really hit home for me.
3. Which spot in town serves your favorite drink or dish?
I have to say that my new go-to spot for a great drink is Hamlet & Ghost. I love their swanky, speakeasy vibe and the mixologists behind the bar really know how to make a mean cocktail. I typically pick a different one each time I go because I like to be surprised and try new things.
4. Derby Day is quickly approaching and dress for “the most exciting two minutes in sports” trends traditional and conservative. What do you recommend for a fresh fashion take on race day this May or the Saratoga meet this summer?

Anyone who knows me knows that I don't take the traditional approach when it comes to style. I think it's important to take risks when it comes to fashion because it gives you a chance to really show off your personality. For this year's racing season I'm opting for more loose fitting linen pieces that are stylish, but comfortable and breathable at the same time and let my hat and accessories do the talking.
5. What's the first app/website you open in the morning?

I'm embarrassed to admit that I am a total social media addict (but really who isn't these days?). So even though I wish I could say the first app I open in the morning is NY Times or something, it’s typically Instagram. I help run Lifestyles' Instagram account; it's pretty much my baby. I'm constantly obsessing over it.
6. "I consider Saratoga's greatest hidden gem to be..."
I consider Saratoga's greatest hidden gem to be Fish Creek. Paddle boarding in the summer is one of my favorite pass times and there is no better place to do it locally than FC. My paddle partners and I go out for an hour or two, and when we're done, we get pizza from Harvest & Hearth (because we've earned it, of course).
